About Johnathan

My name is Johnathan Ammons, and I am proud to call Whitmire home. I am running for Whitmire Town Council because I believe our community’s best days are still ahead, and I want to help build a stronger future for the town that my family has called home for generations.

My roots in Whitmire run deep. My sixth great-grandfather, George Frederick Whitmire, came to America from Germany, served as a veteran of the Revolutionary War, and settled here after the war. He built his home in this community and established some of its first businesses, helping lay the foundation for the town we know today. Generations later, when my father’s family left the mountains of South Carolina, they could have settled anywhere—but they chose Whitmire because they believed in this community and the people who call it home.

Growing up, I learned the importance of hard work, integrity, and serving others from my family. Those values continue to guide me today. I believe local government should be transparent, fiscally responsible, and focused on improving the everyday lives of its citizens.

As your Town Council member, I will work to strengthen our infrastructure, support public safety, encourage economic development, manage taxpayer dollars responsibly, and ensure that every resident has a voice in the future of our town.

Whitmire is more than a place on a map—it’s a community of neighbors who care for one another and step up when someone needs help. I would be honored to earn your trust and the opportunity to serve our town with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to building a better Whitmire for generations to come.
